2023 Updates in Progress

Melissa, Camp Director
Melissa Carter
Director

Melissa has been a part of Camp Arrowhead’s Legacy since 2002. She started as a volunteer, needing to get her volunteer hours to graduate from high school, when unexpectedly she fell in love with the program, the facility, and the people.  After the first day she immediately signed up to volunteer the rest of the summer and knew that this would forever be her happy place. Arrowhead helped her, like it has helped many other people, decide what direction she wanted her life to go.  Melissa graduated from Bridgewater State in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in Communication Disorders.  While she was there she was able to participate in the CPDC program, Children’s Physical Developmental Clinic.  She was lucky enough to work in the Wellesley Public Schools right out of college, providing one to one assistance with kids in the Elementary School level as well as working with full classrooms.  In September of 2013 Melissa became the Special Needs Coordinator for the Natick Recreation and Parks Department.

She loves taking pictures, singing karaoke, and hanging out with family.
One of her favorite things about camp is Open Circle because the whole camp is together, singing songs, and everyone can feel the energy and excitement for the adventures in the day ahead.

Susan, Camp Nurse
Susan Couper
Residential Nurse

Susan has been the Nurse at Camp Arrowhead since 2010, and the staff are so grateful that she returns year after year.   Her love for the campers and the camp is shown in her work, and interactions.

Meredith, Coordinator
Meredith Galaid
Volunteer Coordinator

Meredith started volunteering at Camp Arrowhead in 2012.  She is super excited to be back on staff for another exciting year. Her favorite part of camp is Open Circle because everyone starts off the day together and is full of energy!  Meredith is currently a Junior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she is studying Nursing.  She is part of the Best Buddies club there, where she even gets to see some Arrowhead campers in the off-season.  Meredith cherishes the relationships made with the campers, volunteers, and fellow staff and cannot wait for another exciting and successful summer!

Julia, Events Coordinator
Julia Stevens
Daily Events Coordinator

Julia started volunteering at Camp Arrowhead in 2012, and became a part of the staff in 2016. She instantly fell in love with the people and the atmosphere, and cannot imagine a summer without it. This summer she is very excited to run Book club as well as lifeguard. Julia’s favorite part of camp is the long lasting relationships volunteers, staff, and campers create everyday. She has met some of her best friends through Camp. Outside of camp, Julia attends Westfield State University where she is studying Special Education.

Eric, Lifeguard
Eric Sears
Head Lifeguard

Eric started volunteering in 2011 and found a talent he was unaware of.  He realized through Camp that he wanted to work with individuals with Special Needs way beyond just his summers and decided to go to Bridgewater State University in 2015. He has worked as a lifeguard in 5 different organizations and is excited to bring everything he has learned at all of them, to Camp Arrowhead with his fellow Lifeguards. Eric is very excited to start the next season of Camp and cannot wait to sing all of the songs!

Caroline, Events Coordinator
Caroline Canney
Special Events Coordinator

Caroline started volunteering in 2011 and found a passion that was just waiting to come out. She is very excited to be running media movement this year at camp and started planning projects in January! When Caroline is not at camp you can find her working at Lola's or Coaching the Skyline Softball team. Her favorite part about camp is opening circle because everyone is together.
